FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Giving Back and Providing Support to Our Neighbors
The YMCA of Selma-Dallas County has been listening and responding to our community’s needs since 1877. Whether developing skills or emotional well-being through education and training, welcoming and connecting people from all walks of life, building a healthier community through local collaborations, the Y fosters the care and respect all people desire and deserve. Every day, Y staff, volunteers and donors help empower people within the community we live, so that they can be healthy, confident and connected.
We’re here day-in and day-out to provide the resources our community needs to address our most pressing social issues: child welfare, education, employment, housing and substance abuse. We work to make sure every child, family and community has what they need to make positive life changes and overcome obstacles.
Building a strong global community begins at home. Ys in the U.S. help young people develop cultural competencies, diverse populations connect to the community and individuals around the world gain access to life-changing resources and support.
Volunteerism & Giving
The generosity of others is at the core of our existence. It is only through the support of our volunteers and public and private donors that we are able to give back to our community we serve.
We are a powerful ally and advocate for our communities. Our experience and strong relationships mean that we’re able to organize grassroots efforts and influence public policy around a range of social issues including child welfare, education and public health.
